Windy today. Usually it's dead calm all the time. So today is a big change.
Long Beach has the street sweeper come thru once a week. I talked with one of the guys who does it today. They refill their water tank at a fire hydrant. There is a dumpster centrally located. They go and off load the refuse they collect. Neat operation.
Honey picked up Lukah at the bus depot at 1 am on the 18th. It's so good to have the family all together for Christmas.
Jay and Lukah have been working on the building project next door.
Midweek service is tonight because of Christmas.

Haven't been keeping up with this like I should have. Most of the time I did not have internet and when I did, I had to catch up on the e-mails. Sooooooo, praise the Lord, we now have both an internet connection and quiet time.
Today, Monday Dec. 14, honey was able to help next door on the building project. No rain today. I walked for an hour this morning. I located the local Wal-mart on the internet then drove there (without getting lost or hitting anyone) this afternoon.
We have been invited to the Christmas party for the Rt. 1 bus Wed. night. The mid-week church service is held Thurs. night.
Sunday, Dec. 13 Sunday school starts at 9:30. Honey and I went to the Cambodian s.s. 10:30 Honey preached in the teen bus boys s.s. One boy named Billy got saved. Amen. Church was over by 11:30. Pastor then drove over to the LA church to preach there. One of the SS classes gave us a Christmas/welcome card with a gift card in it. What a blessing. Evening service starts at 5:30. We joined Pacific Baptist tonight. After service, we picked up Leah and had pizza at our place. Got to talk for a while and catch up. Our first real get together since we got here.
Saturday, Dec. 12 Rain. I only mention the rain because it is unusual around here. They seem to think we brought it with us. Honey and I went to bus visitation. One of 6 different groups that go out on visitation. The girls from the dorm gave honey a present of fresh, homemade, soft chocolate chip cookies as a thank you for moving the bed at the dorm.
Fri., Dec. 11 Rain. Honey helped with the building project next door. I drove to the post office by myself. I mention this because driving here is way different then driving in Morganton. There are way more people here. The Southeast Asia mission team met at the "fur" noodle resteraunt at 5:30 pm. Most the whole team was there except, I think, 2 couples. Everyone is excited about the mission trip. Some are leaving Dec. 28 and others, us included, are leaving Jan. 4.
Thurs. Dec 10 Honey helped with the building project next door. Pastor's wife feed us dinner. After honey was finished next door, we went over to Leah's (the girls dorm) and honey took apart a bunk bed and moved it into another room.
Wed. Dec. 9 We arrived in Long Beach. We missed the sign for our exit so we ended up in Fullerton. We made it all the way across the country only to miss our last exit. After a quick call to the pastor, we were soon arrived. Got our stuff put in the room. Jay got to go to the evening service in the LA church with Leah. I stayed home and organized the room.
Tues. Dec 8 We left Carson City, NV at 8 am after a sincere prayer for safety. The road signs said if you were on the road, you should have snow tires or chains. We had neither. Honey said with the 4 wheel drive and the weight in the bed we should be ok. It was a bit hairy in Carson City but fine after that. We drove up to Reno and grabbed 80. We figured it would be more traveled and in the best shape. We made it just fine. We drove in 4 w.d. until the snow had almost completely disappeared, we were in California by then. We stopped for the night in Buttonwillow, CA. It is 120 miles from Long Beach. We could have gone on but after the stress of driving in the snow (we were tired) and the time of day (rush hour) we would be arriving, we decided to stop for the night.
Monday, Dec. 7 It has snowed a lot over night and it's still snowing. I went out twice and shoveled for a while. There is over a foot. The man we are staying with lent us a pair of his snow boots. Honey shoveled for a while. Then he went to Wal-mart and got us snow boots and gloves. He shoveled some more when he got back.
Sunday Dec. 6 Honey looked up a place for us to go to church in the phone book. What a wonderful church and new friends we found. Bro. Ranspot at Ponderosa Bible Baptist Church. It started to snow. By evening service, there was a lot of snow on the ground. Honey got to tell the church about the work in Thailand at the evening service. One man, as he was driving out of the parking lot, did a complete circle. We were following pastor and almost hit him at a stop light as we could not stop because of the snow. We had great fellowship with pastor and his wife until closing at IHOP. Praise the Lord, we made it home safe.
Sat. Dec. 5 We went sight seeing. Saw Lake Tahoe.
Fri. Dec 4 Brought the truck in for an oil change. It has worked so well so far on the trip. Thank you everyone who prayed for it. I am so glad not to have to drive anywhere for a while.
Thurs. Dec. 3 Left Kingman, AZ at 6:20 am. We hit Las Vegas at just the perfect time. We did not get held up in traffic at all. We had a scare after that. We ran straight into the wind after Las Vegas. Honey said he could see the gas gauge dropping as he watched. We were afraid we would run out of gas before we came to a town. There is not much in between the towns in NV. (I won't mention the whore houses) The next town we were hoping to gas up in turned out to be defunct (a ghost town) so we drove on. Praise the Lord we made it to the next town on the map and were able to gas up. After that, we topped it off in most every big town we came too. Not much in the way of wild life (did see one live coyote) or vegetation to be seen. Just sand and rocks. We arrived in Carson City, NV at 4 pm.
Wed. Dec. 2 Left Tucumcari, NM at 6:40 am. Saw antelope along the road. Saw snow on the ground in some places. Stopped for the night in Kingman, AZ.
Tues. Dec 1 Left Russellville, AR at 6:30 am. Saw snow in Amarillo, TX. The town stinks - stinks - stinks of cows because of the bigggg stockyard. Stopped for the night in Tucumcari, NM.
Mon. Nov. 30 We left Sweetwater, TN at 7 am. Wow, what a road we had for the first hour. So glad we didn't try to leave before the sun came up. It would have been dangerous and scary. Saw lots of what looked like rice fields when we crossed into Arkansas. Stopped for the night in Russellville, AR.
Sunday, Nov. 29 A.M. service honey presented at 10 Mile Baptist Church. During Sunday School I was in the senior womens class. One of the ladies said the funniest thing. "You young women of 60" What a sweet group of people. We packed up the bed of the truck before evening service. The P.M. service we were at Lee's Chapel Baptist Church. It was like being at our home church. Everyone was so nice.
Sat., Nov. 28 Didn't do much.
Fri., Nov. 27 Honey went deer hunting with Pstr. Hicks. They didn't see a thing.
Thurs. Nov. 26 Ate Thanksgiving dinner at Karita's, pastors granddaughter, house at 5 pm.
Wed. Nov. 25 Presented at Mt. Harmony Baptist Church. We had been there before. Sweet people.
Tues. Nov 24 Presented at True Gospel Baptist Church. They had their mid week service a day early because of Thanksgiving. Really enjoyed the pastor and the people there.
Mon. Nov. 23 We left the church camp at 10 am. It took longer then we thought to pack the truck. We still ended up leaving stuff there at the camp and giving stuff to my brother. With 40 closed because of the rock slide, we drove 26 - 81 - 40 - 75. Good bye North Carolina. The pastor in Sweetwater arranged for us to stay at his son's house. What a blessing. We off loaded the truck and stored most of the stuff on his porch.

We haven't closed yet. The Lord is allowing us to stay in our home a while longer. The plan is that we will close sometime this week. Lord willing.
Recently we have been making preparation for a 3 wk survey trip to Thailand in Jan.
Last Sunday, a teenager was saved and another made sure that he was going to Heaven.
Wed. night, we shared with our church of the Lord's leading us to CA & Thailand. We had been telling people as we met them, but this way everyone is up to date. We are going to miss them more than anything in NC.
This week we will be visiting churches in SC and IN.

There were three but I couldn't get all of them in the frame at the same time. Picture was taken in our back yard at 4 pm today. They are eating persimmons on the ground. 2 does & 1 buck

I must admit I ain't the smartest thing the Lord has ever created. Lemme share today's lesson that reinforced that truth.
Honey left for Wisconsin on Monday. Of course, it got cold while he was gone so I turned on the furnace for the first time this fall. Nothing. Huh. Now what did I forget? Breaker switch. Nope. Maybe this, maybe that. I pretty much decided it would just have to wait until honey got home and he would make it go.
Today was cold. And wet. And cold. The temp. in the house was 66. That ain't too bad as long as you're doing something but I knew it would get colder tonight. I prayed and prayed. I called on the Lord out loud. I was cold. Could he please do something about the heat?!
Well, the temp. fell to 65 in the house and the heat came on. Well, Praise the Lord. He fixed it. Wait. Wait. There is a taught in the back of my head. There it is. What an idiot. I have been freezing and ----- it's the thermostat. We have the kind you have to program. Some time since last year, we flipped the breaker and it went back to it's original factory settings -- ie: it maintains a temp. of 65.
What an idiot.
